VRHS Theatre presents The Invasion of Earth

The Curtain Opens on the 2013-2014 Season on October 15th

Villa Rica High School Theatre launches the 2013-2014 season with a dessert-theatre production of The Invasion of Earth, a play based on the actual 1938 broadcast of H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds.  In 1938, famed actor Orson Welles presented a radio drama based on the novel.  Many listeners mistakenly understood the production to be actual news, and panicked as news of Martian machines sweeping across the New Jersey countryside invaded their radios. The Invasion of Earth follows the distress and panic of citizens of New Jersey as Martians supposedly are invading their towns. The Invasion of Earth opens on Tuesday, October 15th, and continues with performances on Thursday the 17th, Tuesday the 22nd, and Thursday the 24th.  All performances will be at the OneEleven Theater at VRHS at 7:30 p.m., and all tickets are $10.  Dessert from Izzy Bakes Cakes will be provided, along with a beverage.  Purchase tickets at the door, or online atwww.vrhstheatretickets.webs.com anytime.

Villa Rica High School Theatre looks to build on the success of last year’s season, one that saw a 2nd place finish in the Region 5-AAAAA One-Act Competition, and successful productions of Breaking News, The Moustache, and Murder in the Magnolias.  Invasion will compete at a sub-region competition on October 19th at New Manchester High School.
