Local animal advocacy group hosts Fall Festival

Doc Win Band to Provide Entertainment

Volunteers from the American Veterinary Animal Welfare Foundation are hosting a Fun Fall Festival on October 6, 2012 from 10 am – 2 pm at the Atlanta West Veterinary Hospital located at 102 Thomas Dorsey Drive in Villa Rica. Activities will include low-cost vaccinations, pet photos, tattoos, adoptions, a Pet Costume Contest at 1 pm and a special performance from the Doc Win Band at 2 pm. To register for the pet costume contest, contact Deb at 770-459-2253; pre-registration is $10 per pet or $15 for on-site registration.

“We hope to provide some fun entertainment for people and their pets Saturday,” says Dr. Win Burnett, owner and veterinarian at Atlanta West Veterinary Hospital. “The band loves to play at exciting events like this and all of our proceeds ALWAYS go back to the foundation to help take care of more animals in our communities.”

The AVAWF is a fundraising organization that financially supports local veterinarians and volunteers that provide critical and noncritical care to abandoned animals in need. Some of these services may include population control, food & shelter, medical services and local adoption assistance, including foster homes and permanent placements. Dr. Stuart Burnett, owner of Atlanta West Veterinary Hospital, along with a group of local volunteers, established the foundation in 2011 after being inspired by animal rescue efforts in the Villa Rica community. As of September 2012, through the efforts of the foundation, over 150 animals have been care for and placed in loving homes in the west Georgia community.
