The Landmark Christian School Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Dr. Jason McMaster as Head of School for Landmark effective July 1, 2018. Dr. McMaster comes to LCS from Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, California, where he has served since its founding in 2000. At Oaks, Dr. McMaster led the strategic development of academic courses and programs designed to “prepare minds for leadership and hearts for service.” Dr. McMaster’s spiritual, educational, and financial background will be instrumental as he helps build on Landmark’s 30 year traditions while identifying new opportunities for innovation and growth.
Spiritually, Dr. McMaster served two terms as an elder and previously worked as the middle school and college pastor at the Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village. Under his leadership, the youth ministry attendance grew by more than 1,000 percent. He also served for a time as the campus pastor at Oaks Christian School.
Academically, Dr. McMaster earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from UCLA, and a Master of Arts and Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from California Lutheran University. During his time at Oaks, Dr. McMaster worked as a teacher and Dean of Academic Development. Most recently, he has served as the Associate Head of School with responsibilities in advancement, arts, athletics, marketing, and strategic development of new courses and programs. He recently led Oaks through the SAIS accreditation renewal process and helped develop their five year strategic plan that incorporated significant reorganization for both middle and high school and assisted in the redesign of the faculty and staff evaluation process.
In the past, Dr. McMaster has taken an entrepreneurial approach to resourcing education. For example, he increased the revenue stream of the Oaks Christian School Learning Center significantly in four years by expanding the resources and services it provides to the local community. His experience includes focusing on fundraising for innovative courses in entrepreneurship, film, and robotics.
Landmark will be hosting Open Houses on January 20 at the K4-4th grade Peachtree City Campus and on January 21 at the K4-12th grade Fairburn Campus for an opportunity to meet Dr. McMaster and learn more about the school.
