Douglasville 4th of July activities cancelled and rescheduled

lightning01_20837_600x450Due to inclement weather, The City of Douglasville has cancelled the 4th of July Parade and Fireworks for tomorrow.

The current and immediate future weather conditions have played a major part in the decision process regarding cancellation of July 4th activities for The City of Douglasville.

“The safety and welfare of our citizenry is important to us at City Hall, and as it has been experienced in prior years, significant amounts of rainfall can lead to tragic conditions for travel. With flash flood conditions existing for the day, we believe this is the best decision to make regarding the overall welfare of our community” said City Manager Bill Osborne.

The Fireworks display will be rescheduled for Labor Day. Other cancellation of downtown activities include the Plaza concert scheduled for Thursday evening. For information on the Willie Watkins Family Picnic Day at Worthan Park. Please call 770.489.6571.

The S.H.A.R.E. House festivities have been moved to indoor facilities and will continue at Hunter Park as scheduled.

The Wednesday Douglasville Farmer’s and Artisan’s market is also canceled.
