>During the summer of 2014 the City will get a different kind of theatre event at the Douglasville Conference Center created by Alice Shapiro, the current Poet Laureate of Douglasville. Season 1 of 101010 SPOT is bringing 10-minute musicals at lunchtime. Imagine how fun lunch break will be with this brand new form of fast, intimate and affordable entertainment. Employers might like to treat their employees and clients and at the same time know that S.H.A.R.E. House will benefit.
To-go lunches are available for $12. Entrees from Taste of Thai or a house salad catered by Mrs. Lively come with bottled water, dessert, and instant coffee.
Season 1 will present 10 different plays, one each week from June 2 to August 8, Monday through Friday. Since tickets are limited to 10 per show, it may be good to reserve your seat early. Tickets are on sale now on the website. Reservations are required and tickets will not be sold at the door. The Balloons and Baboons play is recommended for kids ages 7 to 12 and any child accompanied by an adult ticket gets in free. No lunches will be served for these performances. All other shows are suitable for teens and adults.
You may be excited to hear about a few other interesting features of Season 1. Songs in the shows are updated versions of 1800s/early 1900s sheet music discovered in the Special Collections Library at UWGA; costume accessories will be created by local kids; and 40% of a poster proceeds will be donated to S.H.A.R.E. House.
