Ace Mayo is no stranger to the West Georgia area and no stranger to the kitchen. Ace has more than 32 years in the restaurant industry doing every job in the business including working in his Dad’s restaurant as a teenager, managing high volume full-service restaurants, working as a multi-unit area supervisor and eventually owning his own restaurants.
He’s at it again. Ace and his business partner Marvin LeVar recently opened a brand new family restaurant called The Dog House, managed by Ace’s son Kenneth Mayo. You guessed it…the highlighted item on the menu is the beef hot dog served just about any way you can imagine. The menu lists 7 well-behaved dogs including the Yellow Jacket, Slaw, Suicide, Polish, Chili, Kraut and Smothered Dogs.
Don’t let the name fool you, there is a lot more to the The Dog House than just hot dogs. The Dog House Special is a 12 oz. Hamburger Steak served with grilled onions, fries, texas toast and a salad. Other menu items include burgers, fried and grilled chicken sandwiches, BLT, grilled cheese and wings. The menu also includes a large variety of vegetable plates and salads.
The Dog House is open until 9pm Tuesday and Thursday, 10pm on Friday and Saturday and 8pm on Sunday. Breakfast is served Tuesday-Friday between 5am-11am. They open at 11am on Saturday and Sunday and they are closed on Mondays.
The Dog House is located 4 miles south of I-20 at 4921B Carrollton-Villa Rica Hwy. It will come up on your left if you are headed south on Hwy. 61. The phone number is 770-809-9133.
