New Kiosk simplifies license and tag renewal

Kiosk Feature Image

I was thrilled to see a new tag renewal kiosk in the Publix at Mirror Lake in June. It’s the first one in Villa Rica. I have used the kiosks that are located in the Kroger locations in Douglasville for the last few years and love the convenience.

Once you complete your emission inspection, you just go to the kiosk and the rest is easy. Scan in your renewal form or type in your drivers license number, verify the vehicle tag you are renewing, and insert a credit or debit card. Within a minute or two you have the renewal completed with the new sticker to apply to your license plate. There’s no longer a need to drive to the tag office. If there is no line at the kiosk, it’s less than a five minute process.

I was also delighted to see that the kiosks have a new feature. Late last year, the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) joined the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) vehicle registration self-service kiosks, allowing customers to renew, replace or reinstate any card including all non-commercial drivers licenses, ID cards, and select Commercial driverโ€™s licenses (CDL). The kiosk provides an updated temporary paper license for customers to legally drive. The permanent card, complete with a new photo, will be received in about 45 days.ย
