The Douglas County Boys and Girls Club recently received a $3,000 donation from the Douglasville LongHorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden and Red Lobster restaurants. The donations were part of the Darden Restaurants Community Grants program – which makes it possible for Darden restaurants across the country to award a $1,000 grant to the local community organization of their choice.
Steven Penn, the Managing Partner of the LongHorn Steakhouse in Douglasville, presented the $1,000 donation during a lunch that the restaurant hosted for Doris Isaacs, Chair of the Douglas County Boys and Girls Club board of directors; Mike Stephens, board member and senior vice president of the Douglasville Metro Bank; Steve Hord, executive director of the club, and teen leaders from the Boys and Girls Club.
Steven is a long-standing supporter of the club’s Youth of the Year program.
“As a company, Darden appreciates the opportunity to give back to the community,” said Steven. “We wish to contribute in the best way we can and the local Boys and Girls Club is at the top of my list!”
The grant will be used to benefit programs such as the “Youth of the Year,” which recognizes members who demonstrate integrity and commitment to the community.
