Joe Keith of News & Views interviews April McKown, the Main Street Manager for the City of Douglasville. They discuss Food Truck Mondays, which takes place every Monday in June, and on July 10th.
Main Street Douglasville will host the second annual Food Truck Mondays event starting Monday, June 5th from 6-8pm in downtown Douglasville. More than 25 different food truck vendors will be participating in this year’s event. Because the June 5th event was rained out, a make up date of July 10th has been scheduled. This event will take place in the parking lot located at 6730 Church Street – June 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, and July 10th, from 6-8pm.
“We are always looking to improve upon each event that we host in downtown Douglasville,” said Main Street Manager April McKown. “Based on the tremendous amount of feedback we have received from last year’s event series, the Main Street Douglasville office has shifted the time of Food Truck Mondays to 6-8pm to accommodate residents who do not work within the city of Douglasville during the lunch hour.
Food Truck events have become increasingly popular in the metro Atlanta area. Several communities throughout the region host food truck events including Stockbridge, Suwanee, Sugar Hill, Hiram, Stone Mountain, Alpharetta, Atlanta, Clarkston and Dunwoody.
“Events such as this help us showcase our downtown in hopes of attracting new faces and businesses,” said McKown. “We are asking everyone to keep a look out on our Facebook page, as more trending events will be taking place in downtown Douglasville in the near future.”
Along with favorites such as Cattywampus Grill, famous for their pink chicken and waffles to Cousins Maine Lobster, as seen on Shark Tank, to Westside Creamery serving homemade ice cream and old fashioned floats, live music and other entertainment will take place each Monday in June at the Food Truck Mondays event site.
