The Courthouse Art Gallery’s July exhibits will be two-fold: a citizen exhibit, ‘Vacation Memories,’ and ‘Remembering Mary Ann Carney.'
The ‘Vacation Memories’ exhibit will consist of photographs, paintings, memorabilia, and collectibles brought in by Douglas County residents from their favorite vacation times. There is no cost to enter items in the exhibit, and citizens may bring their favorite pieces to the art gallery to share on Wednesday, June 28, and Thursday, June 29. The exhibition will open on Wednesday, July 5.
The accompanying exhibit will be a tribute to and remembrance of Douglas County artist Mary Ann Carney, a frequent contributor to the Courthouse Art Gallery, who recently passed away. Mrs. Carney was a prolific painter, and many of her artworks will be on display in a separate area of the Gallery. Mrs. Carney’s art will also be for sale. It may be the last chance art lovers will be able to obtain her original art creations. July is the month of Mrs. Carney’s birth; she would have been 98 years old.
The exhibits will be on display from July 5 to July 26. The exhibits’ reception will be held from 4:30pm to 6pm, Tuesday, July 11, in the Courthouse Art Gallery. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Courthouse Art Gallery is located on the 3rd floor of the Douglas County Courthouse, 8700 Hospital Drive, and is open whenever the Courthouse is open with free admission.
