Recycle those old electronics, check out classic cars, join a 5K run and catch a free concert by country artist Ashton Shepherd. All of these events and more make up the year’s list of activities planned for Southwire Company’s Community Day being held Saturday, October 6, on Adamson Square in Carrollton.
“We enjoy an incredible level of support from our friends and neighbors in Carroll County and surrounding areas,” said Southwire spokesman Gary Leftwich. “We’re especially excited to welcome Ashton Shepherd to the stage at The AMP at Adamson Square,” Leftwich added. “Those who know Ashton’s top 20 hit ‘Look it Up’ will love the rest of her high-energy show.”
Homegrown takes the stage at 6:15pm, with Shepherd following at 7pm. Tickets are not required for the show.
Community Day kicks off with a 5K run. The run starts at 8am, with registration beginning at 7am in Southwire’s corporate parking lot off Dixie Street. Registration for the run is $15, and registration forms are available by calling 770.832.4735. Children under 10 years of age can participate for free. All proceeds benefit the Carroll County Soup Kitchen and all checks should be made to the soup kitchen. All who participate receive a free t-shirt.
Building on its commitment to grow greener, Southwire is joining Keep Carroll Beautiful, Gradick Communications, the Times- Georgian, Carroll Star News, Atlanta Recycling Solutions Waste Industries, SLM Recycling, the City of Carrollton and Carroll County to sponsor a bi-annual electronics recycling event. Drop off unwanted electronics to be recycled, such as computers, monitors, radios and cameras. The collection runs from 9am until 1pm in Southwire’s corporate parking lot.
As Community Day shifts to downtown, Southwire will host a variety of classic automobiles for the Southwire Show-n-Shine car and bike show, which starts at 1pm and runs until 5pm on Bradley Street. Winners will be chosen by people choice with the top 10 cars and top five bikes honored. Registration is $15 per car or bike. All proceeds benefit the soup kitchen. All who enter receive a free t-shirt. To register for the car show, please call 770.832.4735.
To round out the list of events planned for Community Day, Southwire will host activities for the entire family, including a rock climbing wall, an inflatable obstacle course and other events.
“We hope people will join us for what will be fun day that also helps feed our neighbors, promotes wellness and keeps old electronics out of local landfills,” Leftwich said. “With all of that and a free show by Ashton Shepherd, what more could you ask for on a nice fall Saturday?”
