Douglas County District 3 Commissioner Mike Mulcare will host a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, July 20th, at the Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 4283 Chapel Hill Road, to discuss the prospective property tax millage rate, bond issues proposed for the November ballot, and other issues of concern to citizens. All citizens, regardless of residence, are welcome to attend and participate in the meeting.
Commissioner Mulcare called the meeting to present information and receive input from citizens on the prospective tax increase which the Board of Commissioners is considering on June 23rd. The Board of Commissioners is required to determine its property tax millage rate on or before July 31st of each year. The prospective rate increase to be considered has been announced to be 2.951 mils, and is due to the continuing drop in property tax values.
In addition, the Board of Commissioners is considering putting bond issues on the November ballot for voter consideration for the following issues: (1) radio system for the Sheriff’s Department; (2) Parks and Recreation improvements; (3) road improvements; and (4) Fire Department equipment.
The Town Hall meeting is open to the Public with free admission and will be held from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. This meeting follows District 4 Commissioner Ann Jones Guider’s Town Hall Meeting from 10 a.m. – 12 noon on the same day at the Dog River Library.
